Nu metal be damned, the torch bearers of heavy, scary and industrial rock are back with furious anger. Al Jourgensen and Paul Barker have returned with new material for the first time since 1999, but the time off has done little to soften their bludgeoning trademark sound. On their first proper LP for Sanctuary, the riffs and screams are as cutting, bloody and scarred as anything from their now classic Land of Rape and Honey, The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste, or Psalm 69. The recording of the cover of Magazineís 1978 anthem, ìThe Light Pours Out of Me,î has been long overdue, as long time fans will note that the track has appeared in Ministry live sets since 1988. As for new fans, just take in the glory of the buzz, snarl and bite that is Ministry. Consider yourself warned.
