Loud rock producer Ross Robinson is known for many things: producing bands like Korn and Slipknot is one of them. Starting an imprint called I AM Recordings is another. But having a soft spot for The Cure? The king of metal production likes The Cure? "The Cure has been my favorite band for years and years. They were instrumental in my approach to production. It was the Cure that opened me up to a more sensitive, heartfelt type of music, and I've been extremely loyal to that feeling in every project I've done since then," Robinson announced in a prepared statement after news came out that he had inked the seminal alternative act to a three-record pact with his I AM imprint, in conjunction with ARTIST direct.
Although band frontman Robert Smith (can anyone read that name without saying it like "Roberta-SMEETH, Roberta-SMEETH South Park Streisand-battling stylee?) had threatened to end the band's existence after their 2000 Bloodflowers release, it seems he was just crying wolf. Look for the band to record this summer in London with a release at the end of this year or beginning of next.
