Taking their name from a word scrawled on a NYC subway car window, Phaser stand ready to make a name for themselves in the wide world of American guitar music. Unhappy with the local recording facilities, the four-piece built their own 24-track studio and spent the last year writing, recording, engineering, producing, and mixing the 11-song venture into ethereal guitar rock. The sound is impossible to pigeonhole, but hints of Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Spiritualized, Travis, and the Jesus and Mary Chain dance around throughout Sway. Phaserís debut, the Skydive EP, punctured the CMJ Top 40 in 2000, but their elegant debut full-length has what it takes to take them even further. Fans of any or all of the previously mentioned bands will get blown away by Phaser.
