The Hives Working On New Album, World Buzzes With Anticipation

The band that spearheaded the whole explosion of Scandinavian rock bands, The Hives, are back home in Fagersta, Sweden, writing songs for their third album. They exploded onto American airwaves last year with the garage rock breakthrough, "Hate To Say I Told You So," from their killer sophomore album Veni Vidi Vicious. Now, the band hope to recapture their buzzworthy success, but what should we expect to hear from The Hives? Will it be a re-hash of their last effort or will they take their music in a new direction? Well, speaking with Rolling Stone, singer Howlin' Pelle Almqvist shed a bit of light on that topic. He said, "It's a bit stiffer than the last album. Kind of like Devo crossed with Motown." When should we expect to hear this new music you ask? Well, no date has been set in stone as of yet, but let's see what Pelle has to say: "The actual recording is pretty simple. Most of the songs are two to three minutes, and it takes two to three minutes to record them. Even if it's a hundred songs, it only takes a few weeks." Keep your fingers crossed people - hopefully we'll be blessed with a new Hives album before the summer's over.
