With the latest offering in the Matrix trilogy (Matrix Reloaded) set to hit theaters May 15, and the series conclusion (Matrix Revolutions) slotted for theatrical release in November, what will rabid Matrix fans have to do with themselves between these two releases? Thankfully, Warner Home Video and Village Roadshow Pictures have come to the rescue. On June 3, The Animatrix will hit retail shelves all over the world, giving fans a fresh, interesting, and deeply involved look into the world of The Matrix and the characters who inhabit it. The Animatrix, a collection of nine original short films conceived by the creators of The Matrix trilogy, features an unprecedented fusion of CG-animation and Japanese anime, says a spokesperson for the film. Two of the shorts also feature the voices of Keanu Reeves (Neo) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity).
The Animatrix will be available on DVD for $24.98 SRP/$19.95 MAP and on VHS for $19.98 SRP/13.95. Are you having a hard time picturing exactly what The Animatrix is? Well, check out the official website, because they're streaming four episodes right now.
