Eminem Looks To Expand Media Dominance With Video Game

Hip-hop/film superstar Eminem has signed a deal with video game company Conspiracy Entertainment to release a video game called Mix TV Presents: Eminem. According to Billboard, the game is expected to debut today at E3 in LA. You'd think with the release of Def Jam's Vendetta, an ass-kicking ultimate fighting-type game featuring some of Def Jam's biggest names, that Eminem would one-up the competition. Maybe a Grand Theft Auto-type game set on the rough and tumble streets of Detroit with Em as the main character, for example? Sadly, Eminem's new game is nothing like that at all. It is instead, the first in a series of games that will ship under the "Mix TV" brand featuring popular artists.

According to Billboard, the object of the game is to unscramble puzzles formed from the game's four videos ("My Name Is" and "The Real Slim Shady," amongst others) before the song concludes. There are six types of puzzles, including memory match and sliding puzzles. Here's the kicker - it's available for PlayStation ONE and PC. PlayStation ONE? Why not just release it on Sega Genesis?

The small Santa-Monica based company is actually now working with Eminem to come up with ideas for a next generation game (perhaps one that people over 8 years old will want to play), but it wouldn't even be ready until late 2004. Conspiracy marketing director Vince Matthews told Billboard that one of the ideas was to take The Slim Shady Show animated cartoon and turn it into a 3-D action video game. I thought Eminem was edgy? Where's the hookers, bling, and Cristal?
