MCA To Fold Into Interscope & A Revived Geffen?

The whispers have been on the streets for weeks, but now they are showing up in print. Billboard is reporting the rumors that MCA Records will cease existence later this year, with some of their artists being absorbed by a newly-resuscitated Geffen Records and the balance of the MCA roster, at least those that will be kept on, are believed to be headed to Interscope. The prizes of the lot would seem to be Blink-182, New Found Glory, Mary J. Blige, Sigur Ros, The Roots and the Drive-Thru Records crew. Jordan Schur, the present president of Geffen, is said to be eyeing the top spot at the reinvigorated Geffen. As we say, though, this is all conjecture at this point, but you know the saying about the smoke and the fire. Stay tuned for further updates as they are warranted.
