Avril Lavigne, who recently tackled "Fuel" during Metallica's ICON showgram and is the current galpal of Fred Durst, will see one of her biggest hit singles turned into a feature film. Paramount Pictures has optioned the song "Sk8er Boi," and hired ER writer/producer David Zavel to adapt the lyrics into a feature film. MTV Films and Alphaville will produce. Scott Spock, Lauren Christy and Graham Edwards, known throughout the industry as the production team The Matrix, will act as consultants on the film. So in case you don't get it, big time movie producers heard a song on the radio, and have decided to make a $30 million movie based on its lyrics. Meanwhile, there are thousands of talented filmmakers with original scripts, talented actors, and a thirst to create, who are sitting in Starbucks waiting for their agent to call.
