The Ozzfest event scheduled for August 11 in Darien Lakes, NY, has run into a bit of a snag. No, it hasn't been cancelled, or moved to a new venue, but Marilyn Manson fans will be upset to learn that their "antichrist superstar" will not be allowed to perform. According to NME, Six Flags officials have applied a clause in their contract with tour promoter Clear Channel (who else), saying that they "decided to pass" on a performance by Manson. A spokeswoman for the theme park called it a "management decision," saying that the parks have the right to "restrict artists from performing." She declined any further comment.
Manson spoke to Rolling Stone about the situation saying, "People do acknowledge and recognise me as truly dangerous... I refuse to say that what I do is showbusiness. Only Marilyn Manson, out of Korn, Disturbed and all these other bands, has been considered inappropriate. That's the inability to reconcile art and entertainment."
