Part of the magic of being in London is that some of you have just gotten back from lunch (or haven't even gone yet) while I've just come back from an evening in-store appearance at the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street by the wondrous Grandaddy. Fifteen minutes before the Modestans were due to hit the stage the venue area was less than half full and I worried for my fellow Californians, but that emotion was in vain as come 6:05 when they hit the stage, the cordoned-off stage area was overflowing onto the surrounding racks. Celebrating the release of their new V2 album, Sumday, six songs were played in total, including three from the new joint. Also aired were brilliant renditions of "AM 180,î "Hewlett's Daughter," and "Summer Here Kids." Of the newbies, the initial single "Now It's On"
Justifiably shone most brightly, but "The Go In The Go-For-It" was almost as amazing. Not a bad way to end a work day.
