The new band formed by three ex-Sunny Day Real Estate members, The Fire Theft, has inked a deal with Rykodisc. The band’s as-yet-untitled debut album has a tentative domestic release date of September 23 and an International target date of October 7. The Fire Theft is made up of Jeremy Enigk (guitar/vocals), Nick Macri (keys), Bill Dolan (guitar), Nate Mendel (bass), and William Goldsmith (drums), the latter two of which also spent some time in some small little indie band – what was it’s name? Oh yeaÖ the Foo Fighters. According to Billboard, the band is expected to tour behind the forthcoming release and though no dates have been confirmed as of yet, the band’s official website notes that a tour of Western Europe is in the works for Winter 2003. For now, the band is holed up in an LA studio with producer Brad Wood, and are putting the finishing touches on recording and mixing.
