Steve Burns Ditches Blues Clues For Rock & Roll

As of now, Steve Burns is best known as the striped shirt-wearing best bud of every kid's favorite giant blue dog on Blues Clues. However, by the time fall rolls around, that's all going to change. You see, before Burns was a kid's TV show star, he was a punk rock kid and after six wonderful years on the show, he decided to make a change - and quite a change it was. On August 12, Steve Burns will release his first indie rock record through [PIAS]. Produced by Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Luna), and in collaboration with the Lips' Steve Drozd, Songs For Dustmites is an album that will further his popularity with the hip indie rock scenesters, the stoned college kids that fell in love with him on TV, and maybe even soccer moms.

On August 14 in Austin, TX, Steve Burns will kick off the first leg of a US tour in support of Songs For Dustmites. According to a spokesperson for the label, [PIAS] labelmates The Starlight Mints will be on board for the trek and will be acting as Burns' back-up band.
