Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Streets Top Shortlist Final 10





The longlist has finally been condensed and the 10 finalists have now been announced for the 2003 Shortlist Music Prize. Initially a pool of 86 albums, the 10 left standing by the panel, comprised of Flea, Chris Martin, Chemical Brothers, Josh Homme and The Neptunes amongst others, include Interpolís Turn On The Bright Lights, ( ) by Sigur Ros, Yeah Yeah Yeahsí Fever To Tell and Original Pirate Material from Mike Skinnerís The Streets. Also in the running for the award, given out October 5 at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles and to be filmed for future broadcast on MTV2 are Cody ChestnuTT, Cat Power, Black Keys, singer-songwriter Damien Rice, Floetry, and Conor Oberstís Bright Eyes project. Some of the bands will even rock live at the ceremony, with Interpol, Damien Rice, Bright Eyes, Cat Power and Black Keys on board to showcase their wares. $5000 in cold hard cash goes to the winner (wouldn't this money be better used by charity, kids?) and tickets are already available via Ticketmaster, so get dialing.
