Robert Palmer Passes Away In Paris At Age Of 54

Not a good month. Robert Palmer, the frontman for The Power Station, who went on to solo glory with his ubiquitous MTV videos, has died at the age of 54. Apparently the victim of a heart attack while on vacation in Paris, Palmer first came to the publicís attention with his late ë70s jam ìBad Case Of Loving You.î Then joining forces with John and Andy Taylor of Duran Duran, he rocked out with The Power Station on their radio hits, a cover of T Rexís ìBang A Gong (Get It On)î and ìSome Like It Hot,î before going solo again and making some of the most recognizable videos every produced. Fronting an all-female band on singles like ìAddicted To Love,î ìSimply Irresistible,î and ìI Didnít Mean To Turn You On,î Palmer's suave playboy image made him every teenage boy's idol. More recent work had not produced fruit like his mid-ë80s run, but he will always be remembered for those videos.
