Remember that one-day benefit show, The Mandela SOS concert, which was supposed to take place on Robben Island in South Africa in February of this year? It was to feature Bono, Queen, and the late Joe Strummer, amongst others and was to benefit AIDS awareness, but the gig was canceled when the promoters and the beneficiaries couldnít come to an agreement about something probably highly stupid. The show, however, is now back on, almost 10 months later. Now called 46664 ñ AIDS Awareness Concert (46664 was Nelson Mandelaís prison number), the show will still feature Bono and Queen, and has added Paul Oakenfold, 2002 Mercury Music Prize winner Ms. Dynamite, Eurythmics, and Beyonce, as well as many other artists. Green Point Stadium in Cape Town will host the show and November 29 is when it will all go down. Nice to see they could finally iron this shit out and do the right thing.
