The record industry just keeps getting smaller and smaller. As you have most likely heard, Universal Music Group has reportedly come to an agreement to purchase the DreamWorks record label. It is believed that DreamWorks would fold into the Jimmy Iovine-headed Interscope/Geffen/A&M branch. Also rumored is the fact that DreamWorks is interested in selling off their music publishing arm, as well, to the tune of $200-$300 million. Currently, DreamWorks Records is home to the late Elliott Smith, as well as Jimmy Eat World, All-American Rejects, Eels, Alien Ant Farm, AFI, and Papa Roach, amongst others.
