This yearís annual Coachella Music & Arts Festival is shaping up to be something special, indeed. Held over the weekend of May 1-May 2, the Indio Polo Fields event is rumored to feature live performances from Radiohead, a together-again Pixies and the forefathers of techno, Kraftwerk. Not rumored, but signed on, are bands like The Thrills, Air, Electric Six, and Prefuse 73. the official lineup wonít be announced for a while yet, but look for all these bands to be kicking your ass in the desert come the beginning of May.
Speaking of Radiohead, their self-imposed holiday seems to have already come to an end. Unable to suppress their creative urges, the Oxford quintet are back in their studio, jamming and working through some arrangements. No word as to whether or not this work will turn into official releases or if the band is just trying some parts on for size, but as guitar star Jonny Greenwood discussed with Billboard, the band are a bit antsy. "Phil was (in their studio) drumming and recording and Thom has been in and out. We don't take time off very well. We're enjoying it still, so why just go home and do nothing?" Does this mean new material sooner rather than later? Only time will tell.
