Talkie Walkie

Air are one of those bands, like Radiohead, Bjork, and Beck, that everyone seems to love and that always manage to constantly update and tweak their sound with each album. And the bandís fourth studio work, Talkie Walkie, is no exception. Itís been almost three years since 10,000 Hz Legend, and the French duo of Jean-Benoit Dunckel and Nicolas Godin are still making ground breaking music and expanding their horizons. Guest appearances abound, like Jellyfish man Jason Falkner and Joey Waronker, and the warm synthy Space Mountain vibe of their stellar debut, Moon Safari, is still in the mix on tracks like ìAnother Day,î ìMike Mills,î and ìAlpha Beta Gaga.î But amongst their new directions on the Nigel Godrich produced record are a stripped-down Spiritualized feel on album opener ìVenus,î an Autechre-esque vibe on ìRunî and female-fronted pop-leaning songs like ìCherry Blossom Girlî and ìSurfing On A Rocket.î To top it off, Talkie comes with a bonus DVD containing 35 minutes of live footage and behind the scenes shenanigans. So what are you waiting for? Go get the damn thing already: itís Air and itís a brilliant return to form.
