Processed Beats

Oh, for the heady days of the late '80s and early '90s, the days of the Baggy movement. Shuffly drum rhythms, groove-infested basslines were omnipresent and bands like The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, The Charlatans and Primal Scream dominated the landscape. Luckily, others wish those days would return. Like Leicester's Kasabian. Issued as a super rare 10", wrapped in a nylon flag, Kasabian's debut single, "Processed Beats," is a tasty little insight into their world. Sounding more like a mix between the Roses and the Primals, Kasabian blend those aforementioned shuffly drums and groovy bass with Ian Brown-like frontman Tom Meighan 's chanted vocals to produce a head-bobbing, toe-tapping tune. Theirs is a very vibey headspace and it will be very interesting to see if Kasabian can turn 2004 into their own 1990.
