L.A. Reid Quickly Lands New Gig

It has barely been a month since Antonio "L.A." Reid parted ways with Arista Records, but he's quickly found a new place to call home. Yesterday, Reid was named chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group in a deal that will pay him $10 million over a three year period, according to the Associated Press. Reid is taking over for another industry vet, Lyor Cohen, who began Def Jam 21 years ago but left last month to head up Warner Music Group. "We couldn't be happier to be working with an executive who has the range of talents that Antonio brings to the company," Doug Morris, Universal Music Group (who owns IDJ) chairman and chief executive, said of Reid in a statement. L.A. Reid will officially take over his position tomorrow.
