Clear Channel Drops Howard Stern - Zero Tolerance Indecency Policy

The days of censorship are back: Clear Channel has dropped Howard Stern one day after firing Bubba The Love Sponge. Bubba was blown out due to the FCCís issues with his broadcasting material that was sexually explicit, while Stern was taken off the six remaining Clear Channel stations due to Clear Channelís new ìzero toleranceî of indency policy, with Howardís one strike being an interview with Paris Hilton co-video star Rick Salomon. And itís not only Clear Channel feeling the heat. Viacomís Mel Karmazin has been quoted as saying ìThe company wonít be a poster child for indecencyî after the janet Jackson nipple incident, and the fact that Stern is still on many Viacom/CBS stations. Whatís next? Bands being banned from Clear Channel venues due to content? Police arresting artist for their language? What happened to the Bill of Rights? Between this and all the rights being taken away by the Patriot Act and the like, itís like McCarthyism meets Puritanical views of the 1600s. What year is this again?
