Funk/soul legend Sly Stone is being honored with an Epic Records tribute album to hit shelves this summer. The set, which will be called Sly 2K, will boast contributions from the likes of Beck, Moby, The Roots, Lenny Kravitz, Maroon 5, the Black Eyed Peas, and a John Mayer/Buddy Guy collaboration. Producer Nile Rodgers (Duran Duran, David Bowie) is heading up the project and was in the studio with Maroon 5 just last week to record their cover of "Everyday People." Maroon 5's Adam Levine says of their version of the classic track, "It's a little rougher around the edges," the singer told Rolling Stone. "More synthetic in the Daft Punk kind of vein."
According to MTV News, Audioslave and Aerosmith are also flirting with the idea of joining the tribute, but as of today, neither has officially committed. We'll let you know when a track list and release date are set.
