Covers Album and U.S. Tour On Tap For Twilight Singers

Greg Dulli, former Afghan Whigs
front-man, and his band The Twilight
Singers have announced plans to release three
more records and embark on an expanded tour.

Riding the wake of a successful European tour, The
Twilight Singers returned home and went straight
into and L.A. studio to begin work on an album
comprised completely of covers. The She Loves
You
LP, originally planed to be an EP but there
was just too many goodies for that, is due to street
sometime this coming fall. Mark Lanegan
of The Screaming Trees, lent his talent to
several tracks on the album. She Loves You
will include songs by Katie Bush,
John Coltrane, Bj?rk,
Billie Holiday, and George
Gershwin, among others.

According to Pitchfork, in a recent message to fans
Dulli attempted to describe what one could expect
from the album, “In some cases we have radically
reworked the originals; in others, I just let my velvet
vessel glide away upon gossamer wings.”

The album will also include two surprise tracks that
will be recorded on tour. So here is the track-listing
thus far in no particular order:

“Strange Fruit” [w/ Mark Lanegan] – Holiday

“Too Tough to Die” – Topley-Bird
“Cloudbusting” – Bush
“Ain’t Nobody” – Khan
“A Love Supreme” – Coltrane
“Please Stay” – Gaye
“Hyperballad” [w/ Mark Lanegan] – Bjork

“Hard Time Killing Floor” [w/ Mark Lanegan] -
Skip James
“Black is the Color” – Traditional
“Summertime” – Gershwin

There is also some buzz that Dulli and Lanegan
have been logging in some studio time under the
psudonym The Gutter Twins. Not too
much else is know about the project.

As for the Twilight Singers tour, they will be making
their way across the US starting at the end of this
month. Many of the stops will be second visits from
the last tour. The Singers will be rocking a
revamped playlist that will include many of the
covers from She Loves You, so if you
caught them before, make sure you catch them
again.
