Weiland Exits Rehab Just In Time For Velvet Revolver Tour

Although Scott Weiland has been battling a drug addiction for years, popping in and out of rehab programs (most recently stemming from a heroin possession charge last year), California authorities have cleared him to tour with Velvet Revolver. VR guitarist Slash told Billboard that the ex-STP frontman will be onboard for the band's North American tour next month. The "super group" is planning to hit "medium-sized places" leading up to the June 8 release of their highly anticipated album Contraband.

Slash said, "The first thing we're going to go out and do is establish ourselves as our own band in our own environment. We're trying to keep it as personal as possible but at the same time, expose ourselves as much as possible. We want to do this on our own terms, as opposed to going out, jumping on the road and opening for somebody, or playing a festival bill, but that is coming."

Contraband's first single "Slither" was shipped to radio this week for an April 12 impact date.
