NYC garage maniacs Mooney Suzuki are back in the news as details of their next record are trickling out. Their debut record, Electric Sweat came out in April 2002 on Gammon (and was re-released in March of 2003) and since then, the only thing weíve heard from them was on the soundtrack to School Of Rock. Come August 10, though, that will all change. Alive & Amplified is the bandís sophomore effort for Columbia, and according to Billboard, itís got all the makings of an ass-shaking jamboree. The Matrix have been enlisted on production duties, as frontman Sammy James, Jr. wanted something that sounded like Phil Spector or The Beach Boys and figured the Matrix were the best to call on for such a sound. Will it be all Mooney fans want it to be? Come August, all shall be known.
