NOFX vocalist/bassist and mastermind behind Fat Wreck Chords, Punkvoter.com and the Rock Against Bush compilation, Fat Mike, has done interviews on over 25 commercial radio stations, as well as CNN and ABC World News, to get the word out about the importance of voting in the forthcoming election (against Bush). With songs from the Rock Against Bush compilation taking over the airwaves (#1 Most Added at CMJ/#1 commercial specialty record) and Bush's approval rating reaching an all time low (CNN), it seems at least in part, that Fat Mike is accomplishing his goal. On Monday, Mike will reach the zenith of his mass media campaign by sitting down with the self proclaimed King Of All Media, Howard Stern. Tune In Monday, May 3rd at 7:30am CT to check it out along with 9 million other potential voters. MTV is also going to air a segment on Punkvoter.com tonight at 6:50pm CT, so keep an eye out for that as well. You know what G.I. Joe always said, "knowing is half the battle."
Response to the Rock Against Bush compilation is not just reserved for fans and radio peeps. Bands are coming out of the woodwork to sign on for Rock Against Bush, Vol. 2. According to a label representative, some of the hugest bands on the planet, including No Doubt, The Foo Fighters and Green Day, have all agreed to contribute tracks. Other artists confirmed already include Bad Religion, The Used, Yellowcard, and Flogging Molly. Maybe punk rock can save the world after allÖ who knew?
