Unsigned Acts Get A Chance To Shine On The O.C.

Fox's hit series The O.C. has become synonymous with cutting edge music. Phantom Planet's "California" is the theme song and acts like Rooney have performed live on the show. The average Joe may have not been familiar with these acts before they were featured on the show, but both bands are signed to major record labels. The O.C. now has plans to take their their thirst for new music one step further. This month, from May 3 to May 31, unsigned and indie bands can submit their songs to the O.C.'s Enter The Mix Competition. According to the show's website, the entries will be posted online for fans to check out during the month of May. Show creator Josh Schwartz and music supervisor Alexandra Pastsavas will choose five finalists from the pool of entries, with online voting then deciding the winner. The winning song will appear on an episode of The O.C. and possibly be included in a forthcoming Music From The O.C. compilation. Check out the website for all the details. Indies, this just may be the break you've been waiting for. Take advantage.
