Superstar producer and Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Phil Spector was arrested last Friday after getting into a tussle with his own chauffeur. Spector, who is already awaiting trial on a highly-publicized murder charge, was arrested along with his driver for investigation of misdemeanor battery. According to the Associated Press, the policed arrived at the Spector mansion at around 10:15am to find both men attempting to place each other under citizen's arrest. Police Lt. Elliot Kase said, "They had an issue over their business relationship. We're not exactly sure what the issue was, but they didn't seem to come to agreement. It was mutual combat, so they chose to arrest each other." Is that funniest shit you've ever heard, or what? Citizen's arrest? If that scene doesn't show up on an episode of Cops or Celebrities Uncensored, we are all severely missing out.
We know what you're thinking, though. The driver was trying to blackmail Spector because he has inside info on the murder trial. Good idea, and as an avid Law & Order watcher I thought the same thing, but the chauffeur has only been employed by the famed producer for about three months. Since the death of Lana Clarkson, whose murder Spector is being charged with, occurred in February of 2003, chances are they were just fighting about the driver's choice of auto freshener or his decision to use premium gasoline when regular is just as good and doesn't cost as much.
