Chart action isnít normally the first topic of discussion here, but a few interesting things happened last week that seemed worthy of mention. Morrissey had his best ever singlesí chart placement in both the US and UK for his comeback hit ìIrish Blood, English Heart.î The track hit #3 on the UK chart and got to #4 on its US Billboard counterpart. It beat his previous best UK chart position of #5, with the glorious ìSuedeheadî in February of 1988. Also in chart news last week were golden-voiced piano rockers Keane, whose debut album, Hopes & Fears topped the UK chart the week of release, selling 50,000 copies the first day.
The Siren Music Festival thrown yearly by The Village Voice has added some more heavies to their lineup. Already on-board were Death Cab For Cutie, TV On The Radio, Blonde Redhead, The Fiery Furnaces and Har Mar Superstar and to that mighty list theyíve added Mission Of Burma, Electric Six, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Vue, and The Thermals.
