NBA Inside Drive

As a die-hard fan of the NBA (growing up during the Bulls' glory days will do that to a kid), I am always on the look out for new basketball games to play on my trusty Xbox. You can imagine my excitement when I received NBA Inside Drive in the mail, and right as the NBA playoffs started heating up too! The game doesn't have the flashy menus and ESPN announcers of the ESPN/Sega Sports franchise. It also doesn't have quite as many motion-capture finishing move animations around the basket like some other hoops games. However, it makes up for those shortcomings with incredibly quick load times and sheer gameplay brilliance. Where other games strive to enhance the one-on-one player control, Inside Drive favors more of a team strategy. Gamers are rewarded by working the ball in low to the big man, where they have a variety of moves to choose from to either put the ball in the hole or dish off to the open jump shooter. With Shaq as the cover-star, it's no surprise that big men are also rewarded on the defensive end as well. Big men can take up a great deal of space and have the ability to raise WAY up to send weak lay-ups into the stands with ease. A few of you may have seen this game show up in your mailbox recently, and if you haven't spent any time with it yet, you're missing out. It's possibly the most fun hoops game to be released this year. And don't forget to utilize your Xbox Live to update to the most current team rosters and, of course, to play kids from all over the world. Those Europeans are getting damn good too, so watch out!
