Now Here Is Nowhere

Back in 1993, who would ever have known the far-reaching grasp of Tripping Daisy? They made some people happy back then, but no one could have guessed their impact on the new century. Not only did the ëDaisy spawn the 23-headed love child that is The Polyphonic Spree, but a member of that band also went on to form prog neophytes Secret Machines. Initially formed in Tripping Daisyís hometown of Dallas, Secret Machinesí Curtis brothers, Ben and Brandon, along with drummer Josh Garza, left the open expanses of Texas for the closed-off mayhem of New York City. Their debut, Now Here Is Nowhere, is a mind-expansive psychedelic romp through the lands of Flaming Lips, Spiritualized, Neil Young, and many of their brethren. Prog-leaning without being annoying or self-obsessed, Secret Machines have quite a way with a song, as ìSad And Lonely,î or ìNowhere Againî will attest. Get a copy of the record soon, as Secret Machines are bound not to stay so secret for long.
