The members of the Pixies seem to have, at least in part, rekindled their creative flame, as the band have written and recorded their first new song in 13 years. Penned by Kim Deal and produced by the band at Stagg Street Studio in LA this past March, "Bam Thwok" can now be downloaded from the iTunes music store for $0.99. "'Bam Thwok' is a really good song," said Frank Black. "Recording it was a nice way for us to break the ice after twelve years. The recording process was very relaxed and it didn't feel like twelve years had passed." Although the Pixies are not affiliated with a label at the moment, they were able to drop a new song at a low price instantaneously via iTunes. AhhÖ technology.
When their original opening act, The Vines, decided to pull out of an extensive tour at the last minute, Incubus were forced to look elsewhere, like the Lollapalooza line-up. It was there where they hand picked Sparta to make the June 24-Aug. 18 trek, effectively snatching them away from Lollapalooza. Billboard reports that Sparta, which includes former At The Drive-In members Jim Ward, Paul Hinojos and Tony Hajjar, will head to Australia for 10 dates with Blink-182 following their Incubus stint.
