Shanghai Valentine

You say hardcore, I say dead. Well, not exactly. Every time you scream that, “punk is dead,” you discredit the few bands out there trying to revive the scene. Around every major city you can still find musicians lurking in basements, in dive bars and in alleyways trying to resurrect the spirit of the '80s. Luckily for Boston, Shanghai Valentine is infiltrating the underground with fist-pounding anthems. With their second self-pressed release, they’ve polished up their guitar frenzy and riot-enciting vocals into a tight, sing-along, head-shaking, fast five-song album. The four guys in Shanghai are blending together the energy and ethos of Minor Threat with the darkness and intensity of The Misfits. Playing high-energy shows in any venue around New England, including basements, the band has garnered the attention of many including Boston’s alternative radio stations. With a new album and a troop of new fans, Shanghai has their mind set on conquering NY this summer, one show at a time.
