As the frontman for chaotic indie rockers The Dismemberment Plan, Travis Morrison lent his talents to four full length albums, all released through DeSoto Records. Having run it's course, the band decided to call it quits and go their separate ways. While D-Plan bassist Eric Axelson joined up with Midwest indie pop specialists Maritime, Travis Morrison decided to go it alone and in doing so has made an album that is unlike any you'll hear this year. Set for release on September 28 through Barsuk Records, Travistan blends rock, funk, hip-hop beats, and some of the most creative and inspired lyrics of Morrison's career. It'll make you laugh, cry, shake your booty and get your political juices flowing all in one listen.
At the moment, Morrison only has one solo show confirmed in Arlington, VA, on August 22 at The Galaxy Hut. Full band shows will kick off in the DC area in September. We will, of course, keep you posted.
