Have you heard of The Futureheads yet? If not, you soon will. This very young (aged 18-21) quartet from Sunderland, England, play with such reckless abandon and youthful exuberance that their live show is a force to be reckoned with. That, plus the sheer creativity of their songwriting prompted StarTime International head honcho Isaac Green to call them "the best new band... IN THE WORLD." And he should know, as StarTime, in association with Sire Records, will bring the band's self-titled debut album to the United States on October 26.
Prior to that, The Futureheads will take the biggest step towards their domestic success. On September 9, they will hit the road with the "it" band of 2004, Franz Ferdinand, ensuring their immediate acceptance into the "cool" club. I'm not sure who they had to kill or bribe or sleep with to get on that bill, but whatever it was, it was worth it.
If you find this article so incredibly intriguing that you can't possibly wait until the end of October, or even until the band comes to your town, you're in luck. You can preview snipits from the album here. We're also putting the video for the band's "Decent Days And Nights" on the next Player (.055). Stay tuned.
