More Adventurous

Since their inception in 1998, Rilo Kiley (it’s a band not a person) has taken it upon themselves to avoid predictability at all costs. They’ve even kept fans on their toes about which highly regarded indie label would release each of their albums. The band’s debut, Take-Offs & Landings was released through Barsuk in 2001 while the follow-up, The Execution Of All Things came out on Saddle Creek a year later. So guess what? Rilo Kiley’s third album, More Adventurous, hits shelves through indie upstart Brute/Beaute as the label’s very first release. Produced by a number of hot knob twisters like Saddle Creek guru Mike Mogis, Dntel/Postal Service genius Jimmy Tamborello, Beachwood Sparks/All Night Radio’s Dave Sher and Mike Trombino (Drive Like Jehu, Rocket From The Crypt), the album is as diverse as those that helped put it together. Futuristic pop, urban country, and many more musical styles are brought together to form a cohesive yet contrasting offering. "It's A Hit" is the lead off single and slyly compares our president to a poo-slinging ape. This band was just responsible for the largest in-store in Los Angeles' Amoeba records history. Pick up a copy and find out why.
