Neil Young’s 18th annual Bridge School Benefit Concert is looming on the horizon. Two huge names, Paul McCartney and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, have just been added to the star-studded lineup. The acoustic format of the concerts may be slightly unfamiliar to a few of the artists, especially Sir Paul. The performance is believed to be his first acoustic set since 1991, which was a taping for MTV Unplugged. Other artists on the bill include Tony Bennett, Sonic Youth, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Los Lonely Boys, and Tegan & Sara. Just the possibility of Bennett singing “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” backed by Sonic Youth is worth the price of admission. This will be second appearance for several of the performers, but the first for Bennett and Los Lonely Boys. The Bridge School Benefit takes place October 23 and 24 at San Francisco’s Shoreline Amphitheater. Tickets go on sale September 12th at the Shoreline Box Office or Ticketmaster.
