Johnny Ramone has enlisted The Strokes and Blondie to perform at a benefit concert for Cedars Sinai Cancer Research Center and the Lymphoma Cancer Research Foundation. Taking place at club Spirit in New York on October 8, the event will also boast an exhibition of Ramones memorabilia, as well as additional performers. A similar event took place last night in Los Angeles in celebration of The Ramones' 30th anniversary. Everyone from Eddie Vedder to Flea and John Frusciante, to Tim Armstrong and Henry Rollins, turned out for the event, which will also donate proceeds to the two previously mentioned charities.
In other Ramones news, Billboard reports that Johnny Ramone, who is battling prostate cancer, is currently working on his memoirs with Washington Times reporter Steve Miller. In addition, drummer Marky Ramone will release a collection of personal film footage of the band as the documentary Ramones Raw on September 28 through Image Entertainment.
