With a father who is responsible for penning such country classics as “500 Miles Away From Home” and “Detroit City”, as well as 41 other Top 40 country hits, it’s no surprise that Bobby Bare Jr. would find himself drawn to music himself (he was actually nominated for a Grammy at the age of five for a duet with his father). The son of a Country Music king, Jr. is often tossed into the deep dark hole known as the alt-country genre, when in actually he is much much more. Bobby Bare Jr. actually is a student of American music and infuses a wide array of influences into his songwriting, beyond country. Earlier this year, Bobby Bare Jr. released his second solo record, From The End Of Your Leash, via Chicago-based Bloodshot Records (home to Ryan Adams’ Heartbreaker).
Bobby kicked off his second tour in support of the album last night in New Orleans, as he’s making his way down to Austin for the Austin City Limits music festival. Check out the remainder of his 11-date tour below.
