Engine Down Keep on Truckin’

Engine Down was hit hard this year when they suffered through the theft of their van and trailer filled with equipment and merchandise. Thousands of dollars worth of equipment that the band put all their well-earned money towards was lost in an instant. Despite this enormous setback, Engine Down are back on tour and out with a new album. Their new self-titled release, out now on LOOKOUT! Records, is one of their best to date. The word “screamo” is not a fitting term coined for the many bands they’ve been clustered with in the hardcore scene. Their music has a much more enjoyable sound. Maybe it can even be classified as an orchestra of emotional dissonance. Constant touring and a strong fan base not only helped them chart at #100 on CMJ’s Top 200 last week, but it also lead to a large outpouring of donations and support by fans to get them on the road again.
