Summer In Abaddon

San Diego's Pinback released their first album in 1998 through New Jersey-based Ace Fu records, quickly gaining acclaim from fans and critics alike. Their latest, Summer In Abaddon, is the band's third album and first for Chicago's Touch & Go Records, a label that has had quite a run of success as of late with releases from TV On The Radio and !!!. Pinback's latest, their third full length, is poised to continue Touch & Go's streak of releasing artistic, unique and infectious indie records. Incorporating sparse electronic elements with guitar-driven indie rock and rolling it all together with free-flowing song structures, Pinback have a signature style that is impossible to mistake for anyone else. Like their past efforts, the smooth, meandering sounds of Summer In Abaddon grow on the listener with each listen, making it hard to turn off after listen number five (as I'm finding out for myself right now). "AFK" is the first single and will be arriving at specialty radio outlets any day now. Interestingly enough, it's the last track on the album. Talk about saving the best for last, right? Don't go skipping over any songs though, because if you do, you're undoubtedly going to miss something great.
