You've all seen the new iPod commercial with U2 performing their new single "Vertigo", right? Well it appears that that's just the beginning. Though it is only speculation at this point, the two parties are expected to announce a deal to team up for the sale of custom iPods that will come preloaded with the band's new album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, due November 23. According to Billboard, Steve Jobs and Bono have invited members of the press to a "special event" on October 26 in San Jose, CA. It's here where the news is expected to be revealed.
In other U2 news, Bono has won another freaking award. He is one of three people selected to receive the very first TED Prize. If you're unfamiliar, The TED Prize awards $100,000 to be used to grant three wishes. Those wishes will be announced at the next TED conference on February 23-26 in Monterey, CA.
The other two award winners for the inaugural prize are medical technologies pioneer Robert Fischell and Canadian photo artist Edward Burtynsky.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. The annual conference "brings together more than 800 thought-leaders, movers and shakers for four days of learning, laughter and inspiration," according to the organization's website.
