The end of November brings the USA turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, and the re-release of Franz Ferdinand’s debut album. Their self-titled debut will be reissued as an expanded edition by Epic on November 23. The double disc will contain previously unreleased tracks, b-sides, plus a new recording of the album track “This Fire.” According to Billboard, this new recording was engineered and produced by Rich Costey, who has also worked with Muse and Dave Navarro. The UK b-sides featured on the second disc include “Oh For You, Sophia”, “Words So Leisured”, “Shopping For Blood”, and “Van Tango”.
In other Franz news, the band paid tribute to John Peel last night at the Manchester Apollo. According to NME, they performed a cover of Peel’s favorite song, “Teenage Kicks,” which was originally done by The Undertones. XFM Online has compiled tributes in memory of John Peel from many of the top artists in the UK, including Thom Yorke, Damon Albarn, Noel Gallagher, and Jarvis Cocker.
