Noise Pop 13 Reels In Top Indie Acts

The first batch of artist confirmations for the Bay Area's annual Noise Pop festival has been revealed. Some of these early confirmations include Ted Leo | Pharmacists, The Polyphonic Spree, Nada Surf, Rogue Wave, Mates Of State, Amon Tobin, Joanna Newsom, High On Fire, The Velvet Teen, Nicolai Dunger and Mac McCaughas (of Superchunk's side project Portastatic).

Now entering its 13th year, Noise Pop has become one of the most celebrated indie rock-leaning festivals in the nation. One thing that's admirable about the festival is it's commitment to its local roots. Each year, at least 50 percent of the performers at Noise Pop hail from the Bay Area. This year, a number of local acts who have opened shows at Noise Pop in the past are returning for headlining spots.

“Its great to have so many local artists doing so well,” says festival co-producer Jordan Kurland, “One of our goals with Noise Pop has always been to work with artists early on and help develop their fanbase. The fact that we have Joanna Newsom, Rogue Wave, and Mates of State – all of whom have opened shows at previous festivals - in a position to headline is really exciting.”

The Noise Pop Film Festival will be back again this year. Also, the Hastings Music Law Summit West will be tied in to the Noise Pop festivities. Details on both will be released soon.

Badges and tickets for Noise Pop go on sale Sunday, December 12. Badges run $125.
