Before the Dawn Heals Us

Coming off one of the most critically acclaimed albums (Dead Cities, Red Seas, & Lost Ghosts) and tours of 2004, M83 is returning in 2005 with a new album that is even more beautiful and breathtaking than before. The new album, Before The Dawn Heals Us, is set to land on January 25 through Mute Records. The sonic soundscapes are what make this record unique. Each track flows seamlessly into the next creating a journey from which one doesn’t want to return home. It starts off with “Moonchild”, one of the most majestic songs that my ears have heard in a long time. “Moonchild” manages to reach the ends of the spectrum somewhere between Pink Floyd a la Darkside Of The Moon, and Underworld’s A Hundred Days Off. Another highlight of this fifteen song gem is track two, titled “Don’t Save Us From The Flames”, which is appropriately the first single. Uplifting and cinematic, (with handclaps and a rogue theremin to boot!) it could easily be something that The Postal Service would dream of writing, but were beat to the punch by Anthony Gonzalez. Other tracks that are dually notable include “Safe” which features fireworks and a gorgeous piano, and “Car Chase Terror!” where a spooky story about a car crash is told. Be sure and look out for M83 on tour next year and watch out, 2005 could just be the year of M83. I can only image how great this is going to be.
