The Killers made 2004 their bitch, and they already have their eyes set on keeping the momentum going for 2005. It has been impossible to hide from the mighty powers of their debut album, Hot Fuss. With a few hit singles, endless touring, and even an appearance on The O.C., you might think that frontman Brandon Flowers would be ready for a little r&r. That is not the case. The band has shows booked for the next several months, and are also busy preparing material for a new album.
According to Billboard, the band is ready to start recording some demos with various producers. They have lined up a mixed bag of top-notch alternative rock producers, including Flood and Alan Moulder. In speaking about their latest crop of songs, Flowers said: “We're trying to strip it down a little bit," Flowers says of the material. "Not have it be so busy. Just let it breathe and let it be a great song. We wrote some great songs on the first one, but these have more of a classic feel." Let it breathe? Dude, like that is pretty deep. Let the song like take a life of its own. Be one with the song.
For those of you in the Los Angeles area, make sure to spend your New Year’s Eve with The Killers. They are performing as part of the fifth annual GIANT Village event, which also includes John Digweed, Crystal Method, and Paul Oakenfold. For more information: www.giantclub.com/nye2005
