Belle And Sebastian Nab Top Prize

Earlier this week Scottish music fans stood up and made their vote count in a public poll to determine the best Scottish band ever. BBC reports that the ceremony was held at the legendary King Tuts Wah Wah in Glasgow and featured performances by Idlewild, and a sing-along to The Proclaimers’ “500 Miles”.

This year Belle and Sebastian took the top spot for the best Scottish band (sorry Franz Ferdinand… but you have had your share of awards). Unfortunately Belle and Sebastian’s Stuart turned up late and didn’t hear the announcement that they won. Stuart told BBC, "I'm delighted. Very surprised. I don't think for a minute we're the greatest band Scotland have ever produced but I'm very, very happy. I think it says more about the fans than it says about us. I'm annoyed that I missed the actual ceremony. I feel like a bit of an idiot. I can't believe we actually won something and I wasn't there. We're part of a great music heritage, so many of my favourite bands are Scottish, it's an amazing list of talent."
