LCD Soundsystem

I find it funny that all of these death-disco / neo-wave pop bands are coming out of the woodworks these days. It seems like every corner you turn there is another one banging the door down to get the attention that the previous band just had five minutes ago. If you really stop to think about it there are only a few of these bands that really stand out in the genre. One of these standouts is LCD Soundsystem. LCD Soundsystem came on the scene in 2002 with “Losing My Edge”, a single that became one of the most talked about indie releases of that year. (The fact that they are associated with hipster-tastic DFA just helps matters.) On their newest venture, LCD Soundsystem bring two discs to the table, and what could be considered two separate albums. The first disc is so dancey-cool that it could easily fit in-between The Rapture, !!!, and Daft Punk in your collection. Not to mention track one is appropriately titled “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House”. The second disc is almost a mesh-up of dance and loud indie rock. Track four, “Tired”, stands out with screaming vocals, heavy guitar, and raw emotion. All in this entire album is definitely worth checking out. Being that this is an instant party starter album my suggestion is simple. Just invite some friends over for the full effect of being at a club, and make sure to turn out the lights, and play LCD Soundsystem loud.
