New Album In Progress For The Strokes

Call me a bit paranoid, but when anything related to Sugar Ray is involved with new songs from The Strokes, I get a bit worried. Julian Casablancas and the rest of the NYC quintet have been holed up in their Hell’s Kitchen studio, working on songs for the follow-up to 2003’s Room On Fire. Five songs have been put to tape, with long-time Strokes producer Gordon Raphael manning the sessions. According to NME, David Kahne is taking on co-producer responsibilities. He has previously produced albums for Sugar Ray and The Presidents Of The United States Of America. Uhhh, what? Could another form of “Fly” or “Peaches” be in store for our rock & roll heroes? Kahne’s other projects have included albums by The Bangles and Sublime. After further investigation, he has also worked with The Outfield and Soul Coughing, so we might be ok. No song titles or tentative release dates have been announced, so we can only sit and wait to hear the fruits of their labor.
