Franz Ferdinand Frontman To Give Lecture

Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos is using his rock fame for good. The singer has been given a prestigious slot at the Edinburgh Lectures on February 12, specifically for a series based on the theme of “Scotland Now”. Kapranos was selected to speak along with other leaders from the worlds of art, commerce, and media. According to NME, he will be speaking to raise the profile of a new center for music therapy. The Institute For Music In Human And Social Development is the first of its kind in the world, and will be the focal point of the lecture. The Guardian states that the center will “bring together researchers from the worlds of music, psychology, medicine, physics and informatics.” Kapranos should feel honored to be a part of the lecture series, which has included past speakers such as Mikhial Gorbachev, Stephen Hawking, and Seamus Heaney.
